Period 3: Today, we read text pages 86-89 in small groups.
Period 4: Today, students began reading "Stuk's Village" in small groups.
Period 5: Today, students listened to a "read aloud" in order to build background for the next story.

Tomorrow is the Halloween Parade and Party! Please remember to bring your costume to school. No toy guns or swords, etc.

Period 1: Test on Island of the Blue Dolphins is Monday. Today, we had a Fire Prevention Program and we only had time to review the end of the story questions. It was time well spent! We discussed the difference between the theme of a story and the main idea identifying both from Island of the Blue Dolphins.

Period 2: Students completed selection test. (Have your second AR book read and tested by Monday.)

Period 3: Students revised tall tales and read AR books. (Earn your 10 AR points by Monday.)

Period 4: Students began the selection test for Island of the Blue Dolphins and were encouraged to spend time reading the story over the weekend, since the test was not completed.

Period 5: Finished Test and read AR books - (Have your second AR book read and tested by Monday.)

Period 6: Read AR books and revised tall tales. (Earn your 10 AR points by Monday.)

Period 1: Answer questions 2 and 3 on page 84 in your notebook; Test on Island of the Blue Dolphins is Friday so please read the story and study the key vocab. We will review the vocabulary before the test.
Period 2: Make a list of ten things from the story that help one visualize and understand the island as discussed in class. For example: one of the items discussed were the sea elephants. Karana could see them and hear them. TEST IS FRIDAY ON THE STORY.
Period 3: Finish selection test and bring your AR book. I will also be working with students to make revisions to the tall tale rough draft.
Period 4: Test on story and vocabulary is Friday on Island of the Blue Dolphins. We will review the vocabulary prior to the test.
