Social Studies: Quiz Thursday - What to Know: globe, cardinal directions, intermediate directions, symbol, map key, compass rose, equator; difference between latitude and longitude (Word Bank will be provided.)
Students will also need to identify the names of the continents in each hemisphere. For this question, students will be able to use text page G5.

It has been a good first week! Students are doing a nice job of getting into a routine as they packed for their classes throughout the day. All of the 5th grade teachers will continue to encourage and guide your children to only pack what is needed as they travel to their classes.

Reading - Students practiced using their textbooks to find information as they worked in groups to complete a "Scavenger Hunt Activity." There is no homework this evening. Please cover the textbook.

Social Studies - Finish map of 50 states. Abbreviate Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Draw a line to label Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland following the example shown on the map in your book. Remember, neatness counts!
