 - Goods from China such as silk, furs, pepper, gunpowder, pottery and plants were traded.  These plants could be used to make medicines.
-  In exchange traders from China returned with slaves, ivory, gold, oranges and horses. 
 - Besides goods, ideas were exchanged because the traders came from different countries and they had different cultures and religions.
