Also, it is very important that your child dresses appropriately for the weather. Please remember that you will need to provide transportation to and from school. Reading: Students completed a Reading textbook "Scavenger Hunt" to get acquainted with the information in their books. Reading textbooks must be covered by Tuesday, September 6.

Social Studies: Students finished and presented "Getting to Know You" illustrations to practice working in groups and help find out what they have in common with each other. We also reviewed identifying continents and oceans.

Students are permitted to wear their Spartan shirts every Friday in honor of Spartan Spirit Days.

5th grade field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo is tomorrow, Thursday, May 5. Please arrive at the elementary building no later than 7:30. We will return to the elementary building at approximately 5:15. When you arrive in the morning, please look for your homeroom teacher. Students have assigned seats and assigned chaperones.

To encourage independent reading, students are using the Accelerated Reader Program that is tied to your child's independent reading level as determined by an assessment within the program. Today, I explained how to check if a book is on level. Further instructions will be given. Please encourage your child to find a book that he or she would like to read that is within the range of book levels for your child. Students are required to maintain a reading log. Students are practicing responsibility and gaining independence!

Students must complete an Introduction Paragraph and 3 more paragraphs that focus on one main idea each that explain a skill or trait that you have or would like to have. Students do not need to write a conclusion paragraph yet. Each paragraph must have a minimum of five (5) sentences each. Remember: the introduction gives an overview of the topic of the paper and each paragraph after the introduction focuses on one main idea each.
