Reading:  Write your answer to the Look Back and Write from page 84 in your notebook.  Think:  What is the challenge?  Why is it a challenge for Karana - you can come up with many reasons to explain why it is a challenge.  Then use text evidence to explain how she overcame the challenge.

Example:
Challenge:  Dealing with the wild dogs
1 reason why:  They may hurt her
Text Evidence:  Karana's brother was killed by wild dogs on the island
1 way she overcomes this challenge:  Karana  made a fence to keep out the wild dogs.

We have discussed that her biggest physical challenge has to do with finding a place to live and building her house.  There are many reasons why this is a challenge and many reasons to explain how she overcomes this challenge.
